MUAR: Hundreds of motorists and motorcyclists passing the Parit Bakar road towards Parit Jawa were a little surprised when they were stopped by a group of men.

However, they soon smiled when they saw Maharani assemblyman Dr Muhammad Taslim bringing plastic bags filled with bubur lambuk to their vehicles.

Dr Muhammad said it had been an annual event for Muar Pas division to distribute bubur lambuk to all who motorists who plied the road during Ramadan.

He said the party had prepared 1,000 bags of bubur lambuk and mobilised a team to help distribute the packets by the roadside near Parit Bakar town.

“We have been giving bubur lambuk to everyone for many years, including the non-Muslims, who pass this way.

“Some would ask for more than one packet as they said they liked bubur lambuk,” he said when met in Parit Bakar recently.

In Sungai Abong, another assemblyman, Dr Sheikh Ibrahim Salleh was also busy giving bubur lambuk to poor and needy residents in the area.

However, Dr Sheikh Ibrahim not only distributed bubur lambuk, he also presented food aid and some cash to some 70 single mothers and handicapped people.
“We try to ease some of their financial burdens and to enable them celebrate Ramadan and Hari Raya Puasa just like other families,” he added.
