MUAR: Two state assemblymen here had pooled their
resources to build a badminton court for youths in Kampung Parit Sakai
Darat to take up the sport.

Maharani assemblyman Dr Mohamad
Taslim and Sungai Abong assemblyman Dr Sheikh Ibrahim Salleh had decided
to share the construction cost as the village was located at the border
 of their constituencies.
Dr Sheikh Ibrahim said Kampung Parit
Sakai Darat stretched from Jalan Temenggung Ahmad in the Muar
parliamentary to Jalan Datuk Haji Kosai in the Bakri parliamentary.
“Since
the villagers here happened to live at the border of the two
constituencies, we decided to share the construction of the court.

“There used to be a badminton court
here built some 20 years ago but it had long been damaged,” he said
during a visit to Kampung Parit Sakai Darat near here.
Dr Sheikh
Ibrahim said a villager Tumiran Parman, who owned the land, had sought
assistance from him and Dr Mohamad for some allocation to build the
badminton court.
Commenting on the matter, Dr Mohamad, a Muar PAS
division leader, said the court cost about RM5,000 and was completed in
two days by a group of skilled villagers.
He said although both
he and Dr Sheikh Ibrahim were PAS assemblymen, the badminton court was
meant for all youths and children in the village to use.
Dr
Mohamad added that many of the villagers were Umno supporters but they
decided to shed the political difference in the interest of sport and
communal activities in the village.
“We hope the village would
one day produce talented badminton players and the villagers to take
good care of the court,” he said.
